Search “how to descale a Keurig with vinegar” and you get the same recipe on every page: half vinegar, half water, wait 30 minutes. Keurig’s own older manuals said something different. Full-strength vinegar, a full reservoir of it, and a four-hour wait. The blogs didn’t invent vinegar descaling. They copied it and shrank it.
Short answer: To descale a Keurig with vinegar, empty the reservoir, pour in 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar, and brew large cups with no pod until the Add Water light comes on. Leave the brewer on for at least 4 hours, then rinse with a dozen or more brews of fresh water. That is what Keurig’s older manuals said. If your brewer is still under warranty, use Keurig’s citric acid descaler instead.
