The short answer: Hygge vs lagom in one line: hygge (Danish, said “hoo-gah”) is the feeling of warm, candlelit coziness with people you like, while lagom (Swedish, said roughly “lah-gom”) means “just the right amount.” In a home, hygge adds things: a 2700K lamp glow, a wool throw, a sheepskin on the chair. Lagom edits things: one sofa, one rug, clear surfaces and only furniture that earns its spot. I think the best rooms start lagom and finish hygge.
